yushi

hey - i’m maisie! i’d never worked on anything like this before, and suddenly i was standing by a still, quiet lake alongside the camera crew and yushi himself! everything felt so soft and unhurried, which helped calm the nerves i was trying (and failing) to hide. as the music played through the speaker, the story of love, loss, and nostalgia blended right into the scenery - the ripples of the water, the cool air, even the way the light shifted through the branches. i remember walking along the edge of the lake, trying to let the emotions land naturally instead of pushing them, learning how to ‘speak’ without saying a single word. it was my first job, but there was something strangely comforting about the whole process.

 

what made it even more special was how kind everyone was. yushi took the time to tell me what the song meant to him, and those conversations helped me understand the heart behind every moment we shot. between takes, the crew gave me little bits of guidance - where to look, how to let the wind move through the scene, and how to just be rather than perform. by the end of the shoot, i felt like i’d grown more in a single day than i expected to in months.

 

and the best part? yushi asked me to join the upcoming tour as a back-up dancer. it still feels surreal! filming by that lakeside wasn’t just my first step into this world - it opened the door to something i never imagined to be a part of. i can’t wait to carry that same emotion and honesty onto the stage.
